Executive Committee Officer Allowance Decisions

Following the 2023/24 AGM, a resolution was passed in order to recognise the significant contributions that our Executive Committee Officers make to the Club, which often goes unnoticed.&nbsp; The resolution was designed to benefit teams across the Club for various reasons, could be through their support of the Club, or one of their supporters gives up their time to be an officer of the Club.

The Executive Committee meet monthly, and often make the difficult decisions across the club, support the growth and compliance of the Club and carry out various other activities throughout the year in their official roles.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The resolution allows for a £100 allowance (or award) to be given by each elected officer per year.&nbsp; They can choose whatever team they see fit to benefit from this.&nbsp; The Chairman awards his to the Team of the Season winner each year.

Congratulations to the teams who have been selected as a beneficiary of an award, and the funds will be available in the team funds shortly.&nbsp;

We have had a few new officers join us this season, which we're delighted to have and they will be able to grant an award at the end of the season.&nbsp; Those officers are; Media Officer, Events Officer.&nbsp; We're looking forward to welcoming more officers in this season!

Officer Allowance Decisions!

As a Club, a few years ago we took the decision to move away from our traditional, paper-based system and evaluated a number of solutions that would work for the Club to offer a modern approach for parents, allowing registration and communication through an app, but also a comprehensive management tool for the Club to aid the job of our volunteers.&nbsp;

Whilst we have been fairly happy with Teamo to date, price increases and a number of other issues encountered have led us to re-evaluate the chosen solution.&nbsp; By utilising Spond, we are also able to reduce some of our technology overheads.

The technology that Spond have built will help us to further engage our members, simplify the enormous task of management for our officials and allow us to alleviate pressure on the executive committee through a number of automated processes in the background.&nbsp;

We shouldn't forget that there's a huge win for parents here too!&nbsp; The Spond app is one of the cleanest on the market and we're sure that you'll find it a very pleasant and rich experience.&nbsp; If there's any issues using the app, please reach out to your manager in the first instance.&nbsp;

Our tournament registrations are now open for the Ditton Minors FC Tournament 2026 – A Football Festival of Fun! This year’s event, running from 13-14 June 2026, is shaping up to be our best yet, with a smaller-sided format, fairer competitions, and even more silverware to play for!

It was an exciting night out with Ditton Minors Football Club at our Race Night on Saturday, 8th February 2025 at Ditton Community Centre.&nbsp;

The event brought the thrills of horse racing to the local community, whilst raising vital funds for our club!

We're delighted to see that a number of our players, and former players, are doing a fundraiser for Taylor-Made Dreams in memory of local lad, Jared Smith! 

 As a Club, we have donated another £200 to the cause in addition to our contributions over the past couple of years.   Many of Jared's friends play for us, and so it's a cause close to our heart - so close that our U10 Youth have the Taylor-Made Dreams logo on their kit!

For those that don't know, Jared was 7 when he was moved to palliative care after a battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma.  TMD arranged a huge amount of support for Jared and his family, including arranging for David Walliams to read his favourite book to him on his last day with us.

Taylor-Made Dreams Fundraiser in memory of Jared

As we started the new season, players paid touching tributes, honouring a minute silence and laying flowers in the memory of our beloved founder, Sheila Thompson, who passed away peacefully on 3rd September 2024. 

  Sheila formed Ditton Minors FC, with her friend Mary, back in 1968.   Sheila was passionate about DMFC and leaves a lasting legacy with us all, to ensure that the Club continues with it's ethos to enable players from all backgrounds to enjoy playing football, in a true, community-oriented club.   As a Lady in football all those years ago, setting up a Club was not easy - being laughed at various times, but that did not stop Sheila and Mary from persevering and achieving what the local children deserved.  Opportunities.  Sheila was also present at our 50th Anniversary when the Club presented her with commemorative gifts.

Back in 1968, the team wore kits that were crocheted, in a purple hoop pattern that Sheila and friends made together as they couldn't afford to buy a kit, until a kit was kindly donated by Ditton Junior School.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, and arrangements are being made with the family for a DMFC wreath for the funeral, and our teams have asked their oppositions to honour a minutes silence to remember the hard work and determination.  We will continue to honour her determination, and recognise her in one of our Annual Awards, the Sheila Thompson award, which is given to a volunteer who goes above and beyond throughout the year. 

Sheila - you were one of a kind.  Your perseverance, determination and passion will live on with DMFC, and we promise to run it the&nbsp;way&nbsp;you&nbsp;wanted.

Moving tributes to our Founder, Sheila Thompson

On the 13 July 2024, our teams and their families gathered at Ditton Community Centre for our annual presentation evening. 

This special event recognises and celebrates the efforts put in over the season by the teams and Club volunteers. During the 2023/24 season, we’re delighted to have had success across all of our different age groups, despite being rather challenged by the uncertainty of the British weather!

On the evening, each team went up on stage for the presentation of participation and special awards. Congratulations to all of you.

The Club also has its own awards for people involved with the Club that have gone the extra mile over the course of the season.

Our thanks goes out to the Ditton Minors Executive Committee who work hard behind the scenes with a range of organisations, from our sponsors and local community, through to the FA, the league and the Council. It’s these volunteers that keep the Club running in such great shape. 

Secondly, a big thank you to our players’ parents and families for all their support from getting the teams to games on time (in the right kits!); through to setting up goals and running the line. We couldn’t do it without you!

Finally, thank you to our team Managers for the immense work they put in organising sponsors, training, referees, preparing and reporting on match days; continuously thinking about what needs to be done. They’re the first to turn up and the last to leave. And they do all of this as volunteers. 

All of this made for a pretty special celebration, which was enjoyed by all and followed by a disco.

We’re looking forward to the 2024/25 season already.

Awards aplenty at Ditton Minors Club Presentation

Always a popular event in the Ditton Minors annual calendar, our 2024 football tournament didn’t fail to disappoint.&nbsp;

With 120 teams in the competition, we saw a total of 1260 players battle for victory across 296 fixtures at Ditton Community Centre over the weekend of 22-23 June.&nbsp;

From the U7’s to the U14’s, the Club was proud to see that all players, managers, coaches and officials taking part entered into the Ditton Minors spirit, demonstrating great attitude and professionalism.&nbsp;

With 2182 minutes of football played, good weather and a record turn out, we were delighted to also receive fantastic feedback on the event quality and organisation.&nbsp;

We are also very grateful to Ditton Parish Council for accommodating us, the Rotary Club for helping to co-ordinate parking and all the volunteers that got involved.
